Hard to think of many places that capture your imagination more than the iconic Fallingwater, designed by America’s most famous architect Frank Lloyd Wright.

Fallingwater was built in 1936 in the hills of Southwest Pennsylvania, just minutes from Ohio Pyle State Park. It was designed for the Kaufmann family of Pittsburgh (remember the department store?) as a weekend getaway house. The Kaufmanns used the house as an escape to the Pennsylvania mountains to fish, hike and go horseback riding. Knowing their love of the outdoors, Wright incorporated the waterfall into the property to make nature a part of their everyday life.

When exploring the grounds, it was hard not to picture yourself living there, surrounded with the fresh mountain air and surrounded with nature.

As Mrs. Kaufmann once said, “There must be something about close contact with nature which helps to heal everything.”
