University Hospitals Memorial Service

A difficult story I photographed last weekend for cleveland.com and The Plain Dealer, covering the families who lost their embryos in the UH fertility clinic failure.

The Plant family attended the UH Memorial Service at Woodvale Cemetery in Middleburg Heights on May 12, 2018. They were among the 950 patients affected when the temperature rose in a storage tank at University Hospitals fertility clinic March 3-4. (Matt Shiffler, Special to The Plain Dealer)

Rachel Mehl, of Pittsburgh, listens to the memorial service at Woodvale Cemetery in Middleburg Heights on May 12, 2018. Mehl said due to being back into treatment for cancer, “I don’t think I’ll be able to go through fertility again, so it’s even more devastating.” Families attended a memorial service for the embryos affected from the UH fertility clinic failure at Woodvale Cemetery in Middleburg Heights.
